Getting Started With Sim Strategies

Introduction to Sim Strategies, my motivations and future plans

Motivation behind Sim Strategies

I’ve been very passionate about competitive sim racing over the years, participating in various leagues and endurance events. Like many fellow sim racers, I’m an enthusiast, investing my own resources into this hobby. A lot of quality-of-life tools for sim racing often come with a cost. That’s why I created Sim Strategies, a personal project aimed at developing a suite of tools designed for competitive sim racing and endurance events. My goal is to make these tools accessible to everyone, offering them for free or at a low, flat fee to help the sim racing community focus more on the racing and less on the financial strain.

What’s currently available

The first tool in the suite is the Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC) Strategy Calculator. Designed with ACC’s race configurations in mind, this tool supports various rule sets, including stint time limits, mandatory pit stops, and pit stop windows. It’s built to calculate the most optimal race strategy based on your specific race settings, factoring in even the smallest details, like pit lane travel time, to provide an accurate race plan.

There are a few limitations and features still in development. I’m actively working on it and planning to roll out improvements in the coming weeks.

What’s coming

Right now, my main focus is on building a race control dashboard for endurance racing. This tool will take the strategies generated by the ACC calculator and allow you and your team to plan and monitor stints. With a companion app, you’ll have access to live race data, including standings, gaps, and performance trends, keeping everyone on the team informed and aligned in real time. My goal is to have MVP ready by the end of November, although that timeline might be ambitious. In the future I plan to integrate other sims, with iRacing at the top of the list.

That’s all for today, thanks for taking interest in my project!

Thanks, Max
